It’s time.

I’ve been thinking about starting a (personal) tumblr since the middle of last semester… and I think it’s time. I’ve really enjoyed it for the composite blog, and today I’m going to make the switch.

I made these letters for the kids in my design impact team to decorate. It took a very long time and I don’t know if I ever want to do something like this again, but I’m really excited with how they turned out. I’m liking them naked and simple but we’ll see how they get decorated!

Family T-Shirts

So I probably should not be blogging right now but I feel like I need to before I leave for Mt. Hermon this week. Ahhhhhhhhhh I’ve been sooooo busy this week. Lauren’s over, Bethany graduated, I need to prepare for being a cabin leader, I had to make the Okada family reunion t-shirts, and also prepare for being in the design impact team.

silkscreenI’ve never silkscreened or anything before, and at first I had planned to put this design onto shirts by making a stencil and spraypainting it on. I decided that it was too messy and difficult to carve, so Lauren told me about this method that her friend had done. It involves an embroidery hoop, cheesecloth, and modge-podge. You make a screen and paint around the parts you don’t want paint to go through with the modge-podge. I colored it orange with food dye so I could see it better.

shadowI didn’t take any photos of the shirts I’ve finished, but you get the idea.

So I wouldn’t really recommend this method for what I was trying to do. Letters are hard to paint around precisely, and because of the amount of shirts I needed to make (22) the screen wasn’t sturdy enough. Also, it literally took me an entire day to make because of the intricacy of the letters and the slow drying of the modge-podge. Then, the paper I was using to trace stuck to the screen and I had to rip it off and scrub at it when it dried. You should put saran wrap between the layers.

Leo’s Song

So pretty.

My sister’s birthday party is going on right now.

Her real birthday was April 2nd.

Her friends are deeeeeefinitely in high school.

It seems like they’re having a good time. It’s loud, and they’re playing rock band AH I LOVE THAT GAME AND I WANT TO PLAY IT BUT I’M TOO AFRAID TO BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW ANY OF THOSE PEOPLE.

Sorry I haven’t blogged in forever. I haven’t been doing anything much lately… it’s summer, and I am really enjoying the whole laziness thing. Turns out I’m super talented at it :)

Here are some beautiful jello oranges that my mom made for the party:

jello1oranges

To make them, you cut an orange in half, take out the middle, and fill with jello liquid. Then refrigerate and cut up once hardened. Try it, it’s amazingly fun and delicious.

So Mt. Hermon is growing ever nearer and I don’t feel prepared. I’m working on a crazy project for the Design Impact team, which will remain a secret until I’m done. Just know that it is terribly time consuming and my whole body is stiff because of it. On top of that, I am designing the family reunion t-shirts which I also have to get done before Friday. But Lauren’s coming over!

The Simple Joys

Getting new underwear is da best.

Invisible Treehouse

Something Matt told us about yesterday. It’s mirrored all around so it’s hard to see.

Up

Hey everyone, you really need to see “UP.” It’s my favorite pixar film so far. Yes. I cried for the first ten minutes.

Buffalo

My parents bought me this buffalo hat from Catalina, to go along with my bear hat. I like it!
